Invasive Plant Workshop at Akisqnuk

The Akisqnuk First Nation, the East Kootenay Invasive Plant Council, and the Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society present a free Weed Management Workshop on June 2, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lakeshore Resort and Campground or the Akisqnuk First Nation.

Weed Management 101

Half-day outdoor workshop with weed identification, impacts of invasives, integrated management options, reporting weed locations, application techniques, and how to find resources. Variety of speakers including other First Nation experts, biologists, agrologists, contract sprayers, and herbicide representatives.

Audience: Open to all.

Outcomes:

- Ability to I.D. and report priority weed species

- Understand the reason for management

- Evaluate appropriate management options

- Know where to find more information
